A brace from Deniz Undav turned Germany's fortunes around as they beat Ivory Coast 2-1, booking their place in the last 32 of the World Cup.
Franck Kessié put the west African side ahead after half an hour, but Julian Nagelsmann's second half changes made the difference, as Undav popped up with the equaliser before a winner deep into stoppage time to seal the points.
It means the four-time world champions are back in the knockout stages after a 12-year absence -- having followed their 2014 win with two group stage exits, while Ivory Coast will have to qualify on the final matchday.
Here's how it happened.
- 2026 World Cup: How teams can advance to the knockout rounds
With both teams on three points heading into the match, Germany will now be set on finishing top of the group, as the runner-up will take on the team that comes second in Group I -- which contain France, Senegal, Iraq and Norway.
There was plenty of quality on show. The Germans boast a plethora of top-flight talent, including a Bayern Munich core of Joshua Kimmich, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Jamal Musiala, Arsenal's Kai Havertz and Liverpool man Florian Wirtz, complementing Felix Nmecha, who set Undav up for his winner.
Emerse Faé's Ivory Coast turned heads when they breached an Ecuadorian side, with one of the strongest defences in the tournament, to get their campaign under way -- as Manchester United man Amad Diallo popped up to score a huge goal in the context of the group -- meaning that their defeat is not distrastrous for them.
Yan Diomande was bright again for the Ivorians, whose run and cross fell to Kessie who opened the scoring.
At their fourth World Cup, they're looking to reach the knockout rounds for the first time in their history, which they can now confirm with a defeat of Curacao on June 25.
