As the 2026-27 NBA season gets underway, last season's Western Conference finalists lead the charge as the clear favorites to win the NBA Finals, with the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder tied atop the odds board at +270.
After a decently significant drop-off, the reigning champion New York Knicks come in at +900, tied with the new-look Philadelphia 76ers. Philly began the offseason at 60-1 but shortened to 20-1 after acquiring Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics (13-1), then again to their current level after the gargantuan signing of LeBron James.
The Cleveland Cavaliers broke away from a large pack of teams at 25-1, making it down to 22-1. The Houston Rockets also made a significant move over the summer, shortening from 50-1 to 35-1.
In all, 14 teams -- almost half the league -- will begin the season at 40-1 or shorter for the title.
