Andy Carroll was sent off on the opening day of the season although his Dagenham side started their National League South campaign with a 1-0 win at Dorking.
The former Newcastle, Liverpool and England striker was given a straight red card in the 56th minute for what the Daggers called an "off-the-ball incident" when they were leading through Kayden Harrack.
Dorking said on their X account that Carroll was given his marching orders for a "reckless challenge" on Louie Annesley, who was able to continue after treatment but was substituted nine minutes later.
Carroll moved to Dagenham 12 months ago on a three-year deal and is a minority shareholder at the club, alongside British influencer and YouTube star KSI.
He took caretaker charge in March until the end of last season and is now one of Lee Allinson's assistants.
Carroll was handed the interim role following the departure of Lee Bradbury and made a winning start in the dugout with a 1-0 victory over Torquay.

KSI was in attendance for that game, which was settled in the 74th minute when George Marsh scored directly from a corner.
The former West Ham striker had scored seven goals in 13 appearances after joining Dagenham before moving into the coaching set-up.
His involvement with the club extends beyond the pitch, with Carroll also investing in Dagenham as part of a new ownership structure which includes KSI.
