Lyon beat Crystal Palace 3-2 despite a late rally to make it two wins from two in the UEFA Europa League.

Skipper Corentin Tolisso opened the scoring for the hosts before Ernest Nuamah made it two on the stroke of half-time.

Yéremy Pino looked to start a Palace comeback when he got one back from a corner after the break, but a flicked effort from Pavel Šulc restored daylight for the hosts as Daichi Kamada's strike from the bench wasn't enough for Pierre Sage, who returned to a club he used to manage.

Here's how it happened.

The South London side cruised to a 4-0 victory over Polish outfit Lech Poznan in their opener, with Yéremy Pino, Chris Richards, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Eddie Nketiah all on the scoresheet. Palace should be buoyed heading into this one, having notched their second win of the Premier League season on Sunday over Nottingham Forest.

It was a slightly closer run affair for the hosts in their first game of the campaign, surviving a late rally at Anderlecht to win 2-1 to get the three points. They will be looking to shake off a domestic blip, however, having fallen to defeat at Lens in their last outing in Ligue 1.

Sage managed Lyon between November 2023 and January 2025, helping turn around the club's fortunes during his spell in charge.

Lyon are in the Europa League after a disappointing Champions League playoff against Fenerbahce, which they lost 3-2 on aggregate. They went out in the round of 16 last year in this tournament, and will be hoping to go one better this year.

Palace, meanwhile, are playing in the competition for the first time after their triumph in the Europa Conference League last season.
