The sky's the limit
In February 2014, Renaud Lavillenie became the pole vault world record holder (6.16m), surpassing the great Sergey Bubka in Donetsk, in the presence of the master himself.
The Frenchman has been almost unbeatable since 2011, and will be favourite to defend his Olympic title in Rio.
A 2-time world indoor champion and 7-time European champion (indoor and outdoor), it is only at the world championships where Lavillenie's magic has failed to operate, with silver in 2013, and bronze in 2009, 2011 and 2015.
With Shawn Barber and Raphael Holzdeppe also travelling to Brazil, Lavillenie will have some stiff competition - but when the Frenchman is on his game, the sky's the limit.
