RENTON, Wash. -- Seattle Seahawks running backs Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price have no game designations, meaning both are healthy enough to play Monday night against the Chicago Bears at Lumen Field.
Coach Mike Macdonald confirmed that Charbonnet will make his 2026 debut, but he stopped short of declaring that Seattle will activate Price off injured reserve this week.
The Seahawks ruled out two starters in left tackle Charles Cross (ankle) and wide receiver/kick returner Rashid Shaheed (knee), as well as backup running back Velus Jones Jr. (hamstring). Starting outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu (ankle) is doubtful.
Price, Seattle's rookie first-round pick, has missed the last four games with a chest injury. He was limited in his return to practice Thursday, then was a full participant the last two days. Price does not have to be activated until Monday to play against Chicago. That would require the Seahawks to clear a spot on their 53-man roster.
"We'll see if that's what we do," Macdonald said. "We've got some things going on rosterwise that we're working through right now, but we have a plan for Zach."
Asked whether Price might not play due to a reason unrelated to his health, Macdonald said, "We're just going to let the transaction speak for itself on that one."
Emanuel Wilson and George Holani have led Seattle's backfield with Price on IR and Charbonnet working his way back from the torn left ACL he suffered in the divisional round of the playoffs on Jan. 17. He told reporters last week that he had surgery on Feb. 12, meaning he's not yet nine months removed from the operation.
The Seahawks activated Charbonnet off the physically unable to perform list on Oct. 22, which was the deadline to do so as he had returned to practice 21 days earlier. He was inactive last Sunday night against the Kansas City Chiefs after full participation in all three practices that week.
The Seahawks listed Charbonnet as a full participant Thursday and Saturday of this week and limited Friday.
"To come back on the timetable that he has and to be in the position that he is, and the work ethic that he's shown and being able to work through what it takes to get back from an injury like that at this point in time is remarkable," Macdonald said. "Zach's a guy that kind of works in the shadows. He's already had our respect, but hopefully people understand what kind of stud this guy is to come back on this timetable and be ready to go."
Cross, Shaheed and Jones all left the Chiefs game and were unable to return. None practiced this week. Nwosu also did not practice this week.
A source told the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport that Cross has a high ankle sprain that could sideline him for one or two games.
Macdonald said of Shaheed, who also returns kickoffs and punts: "He's doing well. He just wasn't able to make it to the game obviously, and we'll see next week. But he's done a great job."
Seattle lists four backups as questionable: guard Anthony Bradford (knee), quarterback Drew Lock (right elbow), linebacker Patrick O'Connell (toe) and defensive tackle Brandon Pili (back).
Bradford had been a starter since his rookie season in 2023, but he has been relegated to a backup role with Seattle's trade for All-Pro left guard Quenton Nelson, which pushes Grey Zabel to Bradford's spot at right guard.
