TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love is "trending well" toward playing Sunday against the Detroit Lions after reinjuring his right ankle in last week's loss to the New York Giants, coach Mike LaFleur said Friday.
Love, who suffered a high ankle sprain in the Cardinals' second preseason game, aggravated the ankle early in the second quarter of Sunday's 36-24 loss to the Giants on a second-and-13 pass by quarterback Jacoby Brissett, on which his right throwing arm was hit and he ended up throwing an interception on a pass intended for wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.
The running back was seen getting his ankle worked on on the bench during Sunday's game, and LaFleur said Friday that Love will be dealing with management of his ankle all season unless it's fully healed.
"It's a maintenance thing with ankles, and you guys see the way he cuts," LaFleur said. "So I don't know what he's totally feeling, only he knows, but he's doing good. He's out there practicing, he's running around, stuff like that."
Love was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday and Thursday. Friday's injury report, which includes game designations, will come out later.
Love has rushed for 223 yards and a touchdown on 55 carries this season.
