Houston Dynamo striker Lyle Foster, on loan from Burnley, earned a recall to the Bafana Bafana squad ahead of November's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying double-header against tournament co-hosts Kenya.

South Africa will host Kenya at Orlando Amstel Arena on Nov. 13 before travelling for a reverse fixture against Benni McCarthy's Harambee Stars four days later.

McCarthy is Bafana's all-time record scorer with 31 goals. While he was entering the twilight of his career at Orlando Pirates (ironically the club which plays its home games in the venue the teams will square off at on Nov. 13), a young Foster was scouted by Augusto Palacios - the same coach who McCarthy's goals fired to a domestic treble in 2011-12.

Foster has been tipped as a potential heir to McCarthy atop the Bafana all-time scoring charts. However, he has struggled with inconsistent form and mental health issues and was reportedly not at full fitness for Pitso Mosimane's first three games in charge - wins over Guinea, Eritrea and Egypt.

Foster was cut from Mosimane's first preliminary squad, but this time, he has made the 27-man final list alongside his "cousin-uncle" Luther Singh.

Foster's grandmother and Singh's mother are sisters. Singh is the first cousin of Foster's father.

AEL Limassol winger Singh, 29, had been brought back into the Bafana fold by Mosimane for his first three games after falling out of favour under Hugo Broos. Foster, 26, was Broos' usual first choice upfront when available.

Elsewhere, Mosimane has opted to include goalkeeper-captain Ronwen Williams and midfielder Teboho Mokoena despite recent recurring injury struggles with Mamelodi Sundowns. However, their club teammate, Khuliso Mudau, has not recovered in time to be included at right-back.

Thabang Matuludi and the versatile Thapelo Morena - also at Sundowns - are the two right-backs in the squad, with Orlando Pirates' Kamogelo Sebelebele also missing out due to injury.

Mbekezeli Mbokazi unsurprisingly returns at centre-back after an early recovery from his own injury struggles, with Ime Okon (Hannover 96), Olwethu Makhanya (Rangers) and Lebone Seema (Orlando Pirates) the other centre-backs in the squad. This time, there is no room for Nkosinathi Sibisi (Orlando Pirates).

Mbokazi is in familiar company, with the Fire's Puso Dithejane also making the squad as expected after scoring the winner against Egypt and continuing to excel in his role as a winger/attacking midfielder for the Men in Red.
