The Carling Knockout quarter-finals kicked off at Loftus Versfeld on Tuesday with Mamelodi Sundowns beating Golden Arrows 1-0, and all other quarter-final fixture times are now confirmed.

Defending champions Orlando Pirates will host Sekhukhune United at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Orlando Amstel Arena. Sunday will see Kaizer Chiefs play Siwelele at New Peter Mokaba Stadium at 3 p.m. and Stellenbosch host AmaZulu at Danie Craven Stadium at 6 p.m.

Pirates and Chiefs are heavy favourites for their ties, while Gavin Hunt's charges will face an AmaZulu side which appears an increasingly ominous threat to the established order of South African football. Arthur Zwane's side beat Arrows 1-0 in Saturday's Durban derby, with Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya scoring the winner.

Arrows then suffered a further defeat to Sundowns on Tuesday, as Iqraam Rayners fired home the winner for the African champions. They and reigning league and Carling Knockout champions Orlando Pirates have been a cut above the rest in South African football for most of the last decade, but AmaZulu are bridging a gap that Stellenbosch have at times looked somewhat close to closing themselves.

Zwane has been coaching Usuthu for just over two years - six months as co-coach followed by more than a year and a half as the sole head coach.

AmaZulu's progression in that time, combined with Durban City's 2025-26 Nedbank Cup win, have given KwaZulu-Natal hope that their province can produce teams to challenge South African football's traditional giants -- Gauteng sides Chiefs, Pirates and Sundowns.
