Mississippi State could get two key players back Saturday, as quarterback Kamario Taylor is expected to attempt to play while tailback Fluff Bothwell will be available against Oklahoma, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel.
Taylor emerged as a genuine Heisman Trophy contender with his explosive start and 4-0 run through September with the Bulldogs. He left no doubt that he's one of the most talented young passers in the game while throwing for 1,450 yards on 9.4 yards per attempt and guiding wins over Minnesota, South Carolina and Missouri to climb to No. 16 in the AP Top 25.
Taylor, however, suffered a foot/toe injury against Missouri on Sept. 26 and then was hobbled and exited a loss to Alabama on Oct. 3. He received significantly more snaps in practice this week and a final decision will be made ahead of Saturday's game.
He's still the SEC leader in total offense at 321.8 yards per game.
Bothwell, the team's leading rusher before injuring his foot against Alabama, has run for 403 yards -- which was second in the SEC at the time of his injury -- and three touchdowns, averaging 5.4 yards per carry. He also has caught nine passes for 96 yards and a touchdown.
ESPN's Max Olson contributed to this report.
