Boston College running back Evan Dickens is expected to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, a source confirmed to ESPN on Thursday.
Dickens is listed as out on the injury report for this week's game at Georgia Tech. He was injured in the closing minutes of a 27-21 win over Pitt last week. The junior ranks second on the team in rushing -- behind quarterback Mason McKenzie -- with 65 carries for 293 yards.
CBS Sports was first to report that Dickens will miss the remainder of the season.
Bo MacCormack III, Mekhi Dodd and Nolan Ray are in line to carry the bulk of the Eagles' rushing load Saturday. Those three backs have combined for 38 carries for 136 yards this season.
Coach Bill O'Brien, before the severity of Dickens' injury was known, told ACC Network that he wanted to see the backs take on more of the carries so McKenzie does not have to do it all.
"We definitely want it to be balanced," O'Brien said. "We don't want Mason McKenzie to be running 30 times a game. In the Pitt game, we found a balance that was good. Hopefully, we can continue to do that."
