Oregon quarterback Dante Moore out Saturday vs. Nebraska

Oregon quarterback Dante Moore is out for Saturday's matchup against Nebraska, according to Wednesday's Big Ten injury report.

This will be the second straight game Moore has missed after sustaining a concussion against USC on Sept. 26. Last week, coach Dan Lanning said Moore was back at practice and throwing the football but did not elaborate on a timeline for his return. This week, Lanning echoed that sentiment.

"He's out there at practice, throwing the ball," Lanning said Wednesday before the injury report was released. "It's exciting to see, but we'll let that play out as we communicate it."

With Moore out, Lanning said there is an ongoing competition for the starting quarterback spot. Dylan Raiola, who came on for Moore against USC and led the Ducks to a win by throwing for 289 yards and two touchdowns, struggled last week in Oregon's 17-15 loss to UCLA. He completed 6 of 19 passes, threw two interceptions and lost a fumble.

Raiola was replaced by third-string quarterback Brock Thomas in the fourth quarter. Thomas threw for 156 yards and a touchdown, nearly bringing the Ducks all the way back to win that game.

Freshman Akili Smith Jr. also is part of the quarterback competition.

Lanning did not reveal who will start Saturday. He did acknowledge the emotional weight the game carries for Raiola, who spent his first two college seasons playing for the Cornhuskers.

"Of course, it's going to be an emotional game for Dylan, being the place he came from," Lanning said. "He's going to do everything he can to make sure our team is in the best situation to have success this week and be prepared. ... I know he'll do that because he's a pro."

During his two seasons in Lincoln, Raiola threw for 3,819 yards and 31 touchdowns. As a starter, Raiola has a 13-10 record.
