GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Now that we know how many selections the Green Bay Packers will have in the April 30-May 2 NFL draft and exactly where those picks fall in each round, we can get a better idea what kind of players general manager Ted Thompson might be able to land.
We've been looking at the recent players selected at the Packers’ draft position in each round. We’ve looked at players selected at No. 30 overall, No. 62 overall, No. 94 overall, No. 129 overall, No. 166 overall and at Nos. 206, 210 and 213 (the Packers' sixth-round picks).
Now, let's wrap it up with the seventh round, where the Packers pick 247th. Here's a look at the players selected in those spots the past five years:
2014 -- Jonathan Dowling, S, Western Kentucky (Oakland Raiders): Played in seven games as a rookie before a back injury ended his season.
2013 -- Marc Anthony, CB, California (Baltimore Ravens): Cut by the Ravens at the end of his rookie training camp and spent that season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on their practice squad. Was in training camp with the Tennessee Titans and then again with the Bucs last season but did not make the roster.
2012 -- Brad Smelley, TE, Alabama (Cleveland Browns): Has appeared in just four NFL games (two with the Browns in 2012 and two with the Houston Texans in 2013) and spent last season on the St. Louis Rams' practice squad.
2011 -- Jeremy Beal, DE, Oklahoma (Denver Broncos): Spent one year on the practice squad and another on injured reserve but never played in a game and is currently out of football.
2010 -- Brandon Deaderick, LB, Alabama (New England Patriots): Played in 34 games (including 13 starts) in his first three years for the Patriots and had five sacks. Signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2013 and played in 13 games (one start) and then the New Orleans Saints in 2014 and played in 13 games (two starts).
