Bentley scores career-high 31, Sun beat Mystics 86-72
UNCASVILLE, Conn. -- Alex Bentley scored a career-high 31 points to help the Connecticut Sun beat the Washington Mystics 86-72 on Friday night, ending their seven-game losing streak against the Eastern Conference.
Connecticut had not defeated a conference opponent since June 14.
Washington trailed by 15 points early in the second half, but closed the third quarter on a 7-0 run and opened the fourth with seven unanswered to tie it at 62. A Bentley 3-pointer stopped the run, ending Connecticut's 5-plus minute field goal drought,- and started a 12-3 spurt for a 74-65 lead. The Sun led by at least six the rest of the way.
Jasmine Thomas added 15 points with eight assists for Connecticut (11-9). Kelsey Bone had 10 points and nine rebounds.
Emma Meesseman scored 15 points for Washington (12-8), which lost for just the second time in its last eight games.
Washington hosts Connecticut on Sunday.
