Ballon d'Or winner Harry Kane is determined to help Bayern Munich come through more difficult moments as they prepare to face Atlético Madrid in the Champions League.

England captain Kane reflected on the "rollercoaster ride" of the past week which saw him crowned the world's best player in London and then miss a penalty against Der Klassiker rivals Borussia Dortmund, who drew 2-2 at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern's selection problems deepened after the game, with midfielder Ismael Saibari facing a lengthy spell out after needing ankle surgery following his injury and forward Serge Gnabry having sustained a hamstring tear.

Assistant coach Aaron Danks will again take charge in Madrid on Tuesday night as Vincent Kompany continues his recovery at home after being diagnosed with meningeal irritation following his collapse during training.

Bayern will also check on Michael Olise and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Olise picked up a knee problem late on against Dortmund but trained on Monday. Neuer has also travelled to Spain as he looks to return from a foot injury.

Kane admits it has been a tough spell but one which he feels the Bayern squad can pull through together as they look to push on again following a 2-2 draw with Arsenal in their last European fixture.

"It has been a rollercoaster ride. We have experienced all sorts of emotions," Kane said at a news conference.

"I had a fantastic moment winning the Ballon d'Or, but there were also the injuries and Joshua Kimmich's situation [earlier in the season] ... Those were difficult moments.

"You have to be able to cope with that, sport brings us together. We are missing key players and our coach too, but there are others who can seize this opportunity to show what they're made of."

Kane scored 73 goals for club and country last season, as he won two trophies with Bayern Munich and led England to third place at the World Cup.

Despite all the individual accolades coming his way, the 33-year-old remains fully focused on more collective success.

"I think I would swap the next Ballon d'Or for a Champions League triumph. The team aspect of the sport is why we all play," the England captain said.

"Of course, winning the Ballon d'Or was one of the greatest moments of my life, but winning with Bayern, that would be an absolutely incredible feeling.

"We all want to reach the Champions League final and achieve that great success as a team. At the moment I am still in with a chance of winning both."

Atletico boss Diego Simeone knows his side, who are second in LaLiga, will have to dig deep as they look to extend their unbeaten run to 10 games in all competitions.

"We will have to deal with whatever the game brings," said Simeone, who will be without suspended midfielder Morten Hjulmand following his red card in the draw at Stuttgart.

"We will be facing a powerful, strong team and obviously we will have to go through some difficult periods, tough moments, when we will need to play our way out of their pressing, because they are very good at pressing immediately after losing possession."
