Ballon d'Or of All Time public vote results: Full rankings

Cristiano Ronaldo won the inaugural Ballon d'Or of All Time after edging Lionel Messi in the voting.

Plaudits rolled in from the Portugal federation and his former clubs, Manchester United and Real Madrid, after the latest accolade in his incredible career. Ronaldo won the Ballon d'Or of All Time for his 2007-2008 season with United.

Five-time Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo beat competition from nine other multi-time winners of the prize for the first B.O.A.T.

He was recognised for the campaign ending in 2008, when he scored 42 goals and led United to winning the Premier League and Champions League.

Ronaldo and Messi's various individual seasons compromised the entire top 12 of the vote for the B.O.A.T.

Here are the full rankings and how the winner was determined.

What is the Ballon d'Or of All Time? Who votes?

Ten legendary players -- who had each won the Ballon d'Or more than twice -- were pitted against each other for the Ballon d'Or of All Time.

A fan vote, which started on Oct. 1 and concluded on Oct. 27, chose Ronaldo in 2007-2008 the winner.

There is no trophy for winning the B.O.A.T. In fact, Ballon d'Or explained: "It is not about creating a new official award, but about enabling fans to share their choice and make their voices heard."
