Giorgi Mamardashvili has said that the research notes given to him before Liverpool's penalty shootout win against Chelsea were incorrect.
After a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night in the Carabao Cup, Liverpool triumphed on penalties thanks in part to their second-choice goalkeeper.
Mamardashvili decisively saved from Chelsea's Emmanuel Emegha, after misses from Kostas Kostas Tsimikas and ValentĂn Barco. His save allowed Joe Gomez to net the winning penalty.
"He had a really good performance against Spurs in the first game," Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola said about the deputy to first-choice Alisson.
"Before the penalties I told him: 'We need to save two.'
"He said: 'We have to allow somebody to miss a penalty.'
"Overall, he guessed a lot of the penalties even if he didn't stop many.
"Every team has the research. Sometimes the players change. Giorgi has been close to a lot of them."
However, Mamardashvili said that the information given to him about Chelsea's penalty takers did not help.
"I had this paper as well, but everything was wrong!" he told ITV.

Asked if the notes assisted him at all, he answered: "No."
Mamardashvili said about saving from Emegha: "Before the shot I was looking at his [standing] leg, where he puts it down. I decided to go to my right side."
He also said: "I wanted to save more but sometimes one is enough."
