Carabao Cup quarterfinal draw: Liverpool to face Bournemouth

Ogden: Arsenal's Carabao Cup exit to Fleetwood Town is 'embarrassing' (1:42)

Liverpool will host fellow Premier League side Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup quarterfinals after making it past Chelsea in a penalty shootout on Wednesday.

The matchup pairs the record 10-time winners with head coach Andoni Iraola's former club.

"I was talking before the draw and said, 'The only team that I don't want is Bournemouth,'" Iraola said in his postgame news conference.

"For me it's special, but they know me very well, they are playing very well lately, in a good moment. But it is what it is."

Arsenal's conquerors Fleetwood Town will welcome more Premier League opposition when facing either Everton or Newcastle, who meet in the remaining fourth-round tie on Thursday.

Fleetwood, 18th in England's fourth tier, defied their lowly standing by defeating the Premier League champions on penalties on Tuesday.

Bradford, surprise finalists in 2013 when in the bottom tier, have been drawn to play holders and nine-time winners Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

In the remaining matchup from Wednesday's draw, Crystal Palace were paired with Sunderland in another all-Premier League clash.

All the quarterfinal ties will take place during the week commencing Dec. 14.
