Napoli coach Massimiliano Allegri will watch Wednesday's Serie A clash with Monza from the stands after deciding not to appeal against his touchline ban.
The 59-year-old was sent off in the closing stages of Saturday's 3-3 draw at home to AS Roma and was subsequently suspended for two matches and fined €10,000 (£8,382) following an "abusive remark" towards the match officials.
Napoli initially said they would appeal, but Allegri has opted against challenging the punishment as he looks to turn around his side's faltering league campaign.
"I'm disappointed not to be on the bench against Monza, but I've decided not to appeal. Who knows, maybe the two-match ban could become four," he told a news conference, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
"The biggest disappointment isn't the suspension, but not winning after playing a good match.
"Whoever sits on the bench will do better than me and won't need advice from the stands."
Napoli have won just three of their opening eight Serie A fixtures and already trail leaders Inter Milan by 11 points.
Hosts Monza are four points behind their opponents, having won two of their last four matches.
"Right now, we can only say that we're behind," Allegri said, who will also be banned for Sunday's trip to his former club Juventus.
"We're lacking and we need to work hard to fix what's not working.
"There will be times when things will go better. We need to try to reverse the trend in the league."
