Chelsea pulled off an impressive 2-0 win away to Everton at the Hill Dickinson stadium, with a brace from Pedro Neto handing Xabi Alonso's side a crucial victory.

However, there was concern for the visitors as Emiliano Martínez was stretchered off midway through the second half, after a worrying clash of heads with Jarrad Branthwaite.

Chelsea saw a run of 22 league games without a clean sheet come to an end, while also picking up only their second away win against Everton in their last ten attempts.

A feisty first half ended goalless, but Maxence Lacroix saw his header cleared off the line by Harrison Armstrong, while Moisés Caicedo saw his volley come off the bar as Chelsea came close. Thierno Barry also missed a free-header in the box as Everton's troubles in front of goal continued.

Pedro Neto opened the scoring seconds into the second half, running onto Jorrel Hato's low cross into the box, before a composed finish through a defender's legs saw Jordan Pickford unable to prevent the goal despite getting his hand to it.

Emiliano Martinez and Branthwaite then clashed in the 66th minute from a set-piece, and that resulted in a lengthy break-in-play, with the Argentinian keeper eventually stretchered off.

Everton huffed and puffed in search of the equaliser, but Neto grabbed his first-ever league brace in the 90th minute pouncing on a loose ball after Jordan Henderson's free-kick hit the wall, striking it into the bottom corner.

Chelsea held on for the thirteen minutes of injury time, sealing the victory and clean sheet that lifted them to fourth in the table.
