The Manchester United fan who has vowed to cut his hair only when the club win five Premier League games in a row has said he received an apology from former boss Ruben Amorim.
Frank Ilett, who goes by United Strand, achieved virality on social media for his hair-growing stunt. His last haircut came on Oct. 5 2024, with United failing to win five in a row in that period.
Amorim's tenure as United boss fell between this period and he had a chance interaction with Ilett at the Portugal Football Summit this week.
Ilett posted a picture with the now-AC Milan manager on his 1.5 million-strong Instagram account with the caption: "Great to meet Ruben Amorim at the @portugalfootballsummit.
"He saw me, pointed to my hair and said 'sorry about that!'
"Still have love for him!"
Amorim was sacked by United in January of this year, just 14 months into his three-year contract. Michael Carrick has become the latest United manager following Amorim and Erik ten Hag who has so far proved unable to win five matches in a row and earn Ilett a trim.
United nearly achieved the feat early in Carrick's tenure after wins over Manchester City, Arsenal, Fulham and Tottenham. However, a 1-1 draw against West Ham in the fifth game saw Illet return to square one.

Far from five successive wins, United have picked up just seven points from a possible 15 this season. They needed a late Matheus Cunha to secure a draw against Fulham in the final game before the international break.
Through his haircut challenge, Ilett is raising money for the Little Princess Trust, which creates wigs for children with cancer.
