Scotland begin a new era when they travel to face Slovenia in their UEFA Nations League opener on Saturday.
Sébastien Pocognoli will take charge of Scotland for the first time after replacing Steve Clarke following their group stage exit at the 2026 World Cup. The new head coach has called up seven uncapped players, while 12 members of the squad in north America have not been selected.
Slovenia, meanwhile, begin their Nations League campaign under Boštjan Cesar after missing out on qualification for the World Cup. They are without Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko through injury, while veteran goalkeeper Jan Oblak is set to win his 85th cap.

Pocognoli begins Scotland rebuild
Scotland's trip to Ljubljana represents the first glimpse of what the national team will look like under Pocognoli. The former Union Saint-Gilloise and Monaco coach has decided to draw a line under the World Cup, with 14 members of his initial squad having not featured at the tournament as they exited in the group stage.
There is still an experienced core, led by captain Andy Robertson and John McGinn, while Billy Gilmour returns after missing the World Cup through injury. But the likes of Robbie Ure, Luis Binks, Colby Donovan and Stephen Welsh offer Pocognoli the opportunity to begin reshaping a side which had become settled under Clarke.
His options have been further tested by the withdrawals of Tierney and McLean, while McTominay and Adams were already unavailable. The first question in Ljubljana, therefore, is how quickly Pocognoli can impose his ideas on a significantly changed Scotland side.
Slovenia must find a way without Sesko
Slovenia's preparations suffered a major blow when Sesko was ruled out of the opening Nations League fixtures because of a shin injury. The Manchester United striker is their most prominent attacking threat and has now been absent from the national team for almost a year.
His absence leaves Cesar looking elsewhere for goals, although he has alternatives in form.
Andraž Šporar scored twice for Slovan Bratislava earlier this month, while Swansea City's Žan Vipotnik has also been among the goals at club level.
