Cologne failed to score a goal at their Mungersdorferstadion for the third game in a row as they were held to a goalless draw by Mainz. The visitors had slightly the better of the first half, but they were unable to produce any clear-cut chances to beat their hosts, while a tame penalty appeal from the hosts just before the half-time whistle was all that managed to lift the fans from their seats.Cologne did better in the second half with Anthony Modeste hitting the right-hand post, but that was the closest either team came to breaking the deadlock in a dismal draw.As a result, Cologne drop below their local rivals Bayer Leverkusen while Mainz remain just two points behind them in mid-table.
