Commentary
It's all over on Wearside, as Sunderland cling on to close out a 1–0 victory over Chelsea at the Stadium of Light!! Le Fee's first-half penalty proves to be the difference as the Black Cats win their first league game since August, keeping Chelsea at bay throughout the second half and restricting the visitors to just 0.53 xG. That wasn't through a lack of trying from the Blues, who went close through Fofana, Gusto, Quenda, Palmer and Welbeck at the death, but Roefs was never truly tested as Sunderland's defence stood firm. The hosts arguably went closest to finding a second goal, with Penders denying Isidor from point-blank range before Talbi twisted a long shot just wide, but Sunderland were happy to soak up pressure at the other end with 2.55 xG produced. A well-deserved win finally lifts Sunderland off the bottom of the Premier League table, displacing Manchester United and Crystal Palace to go 18th, while Chelsea miss the chance to solidify their top-four spot and slip to fifth behind Liverpool as a result.
FULL-TIME: SUNDERLAND 1–0 CHELSEA.
Penders punts a long ball down-field which Estevao flicks on in the final third, and although Sunderland have enough cover for Roefs to clean things up at the back, Hume's needless foul on Rogers gifts Chelsea yet another attacking opportunity.

Angulo drags Gusto down from behind after the Chelsea substitute cuts out Sadiki's pass towards him, and is shown a late yellow card amid the hosts' latest attempt to break up play.
OVER!! Estevao's cross from the Chelsea free-kick is right on the money as Welbeck leaps to meet it, but the substitute's diving header is hit just over the top of the bar as Sunderland survive once more!

The Chelsea free-kick is yet to be taken before a yellow card is shown in Fofana's direction, with the Chelsea centre-back booked for dissent despite his side getting the decision.
