Pat Kavanagh and Brennan O'Neill each had four points as the visiting Denver Outlaws advanced to the PLL championship game with an 11-5 victory over the top-seeded Utah Archers in a semifinal matchup Monday at Zions Bank Stadium.
Kavanagh tallied a 2-point goal, a 1-point goal and an assist, and O'Neill scored three goals and added an assist. Jared Bernhardt contributed two goals for Denver, and Logan McNaney made 11 saves to secure the win.
The Archers played without star midfielder Tom Schreiber, who was a late scratch after tweaking a knee injury during warmups. Utah fell behind 9-1 by halftime after being shut out in the second quarter. Brett Dobson recorded a game-high 17 saves in the loss. Sam King, Ryan Stines, Tre Leclaire, Beau Pederson and Connor Fields each had one goal.
Denver set the tone early, jumping out to a 3-1 lead after the first quarter. The Outlaws blew the game open in the second to take an eight-goal advantage at the half. Utah showed signs of life in the third quarter, outscoring Denver 4-2 to cut the deficit to 11-5, but the comeback effort fell short. The Outlaws will face the Philadelphia Waterdogs for the championship.
