Senators' William Eklund set to miss 10-12 weeks after ankle surgery

Ottawa Senators forward William Eklund is expected to be out 10 to 12 weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a torn tendon in his ankle, coach Travis Green told reporters Thursday.

The Senators had expected Eklund to miss an extended period of time after he was injured last week following a hit by Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Simon Benoit.

Green said Eklund underwent surgery Wednesday.

The Senators acquired Eklund, 23, in June as part of a package that sent the ninth pick in the 2026 NHL draft to the San Jose Sharks. He has one goal and one assist in four games this season.
