Cardinals' Mike LaFleur: Jeremiyah Love's injury to 'new portion' of his ankle

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Cardinals rookie running back Jeremiyah Love suffered a new ankle injury in Sunday's win over the Dallas Cowboys, coach Mike LaFleur said Monday.

LaFleur said Love's most recent ankle issue isn't related to Love's preseason or early-season ankle injuries, one of which happened to each ankle.

"It's a new portion of the ankle," LaFleur said. "So, I'll keep it at that."

Love walked off the field in the first half and slammed his helmet to ground on the sideline. After being looked at by trainers, he went into the blue injury tent and later walked to the locker room.

LaFleur said he had not talked to Love at the time of his news conference, so he didn't want to share more information, saying he would have more on Wednesday.

LaFleur also said wide receiver Kendrick Bourne's right ankle injury is "not good." A source told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Bourne has a fractured tibia that does not require surgery but will sideline him three months and end his season.

Running back Bam Knight is in the concussion protocol, said LaFleur, who added that he'll have more about left tackle Jayden Williams' knee injury on Wednesday.

LaFleur said wide receiver Reggie Virgil, who collided with the base of the goalpost in the fourth quarter and was carted off the field, is "great."

"The goalpost took the hit, not Reg," LaFleur said. "So, he had a smile on his face when he was laying there. That's just Reg."
