Cards rookie RB Jeremiyah Love to miss second straight game with ankle injury

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Cardinals rookie RB Jeremiyah Love will miss his second straight game Sunday as he continues to recover from an ankle injury, coach Mike LaFleur said Friday.

Love missed last week's win over the Los Angeles Rams, as well. Love has not practiced yet this week after not practicing last week.

Arizona's first-round pick suffered the left ankle injury early in the season.

LaFleur said there still haven't been conversations about putting Love on injured reserve so he could have a minimum of four weeks to rest the ankle. Earlier this week, there was video of Love at a Cardinals' flag football event cutting and moving horizontally with ease.

Love is among a handful of Cardinals who'll miss Sunday's game with injuries, joining defensive tackle Walter Nolen III (ankle), safety Andrew Wingard (knee) and guard Jon Gaines II (ankle), LaFleur announced Friday.

Gaines injured his ankle during Thursday's practice, LaFleur said. It was severe enough to keep Gaines out this week, LaFleur added. With Gaines already replacing injured guard Isaiah Adams, who went on injured reserve on Oct. 10, Hayden Conner will fill in for Gaines this week.

Rookie quarterback Carson Beck missed Thursday's practice with back spasms, LaFleur said. Beck, who hasn't been active yet this season as Arizona's emergency third quarterback, was limited on Wednesday.

"It's not like a long term or anything like that, but trying to throw the way these guys throw and you're having a little bit of a back tweak," LaFleur said. "That's what's going on with him."
