Jags unlikely to play 3 international games in 2027 during EverBank renovations

LONDON -- The Jacksonville Jaguars are unlikely to play three international home games in 2027 while renovations to EverBank Stadium continue, team president Mark Lamping said Saturday.

The Jaguars could play up to three international home games next season as part of the team's agreement with the city of Jacksonville regarding the $1.4 billion renovation of EverBank Stadium. All other home games in 2027 will be played in Orlando's Camping World Stadium. The renovated stadium is scheduled to be ready in time for the 2028 season.

"I don't think that that [three international home games] is a highly likely end result," Lamping said. "One of the reasons we wanted to have the ability to play three games in 2027 is at the time we negotiated that, we didn't know whether we were going to be playing in Gainesville or we were going to be playing in Orlando in 2027. So if we were playing in Gainesville, there is the possibility that there could have been some weekends where we couldn't play and we may have had to go play those games elsewhere.

"But the likelihood of three games in 2027, I think it's remote."

Lamping said it would be natural for the Jaguars to play every home game in 2028 in Jacksonville in the first season in the renovated stadium, which the team has dubbed the Stadium of the Future, but that depends on what the NFL wants.

The Jaguars have two home games in London this season -- a 19-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last Sunday and Sunday's game against the Houston Texans at Wembley Stadium -- because of an agreement with the NFL to move an international game they would have been scheduled to play in 2030 to the 2026 season.

Every NFL team is required to give up a home game every four years to be played internationally.

"We don't have total control over that because we don't know what's going to happen at the league level," Lamping said of the Jaguars' future home slate. "Just because right now every team gives up a home game once every four years, that could change, particularly if there's an advancement to an 18-game schedule. Then that once every four [years] could become more frequently."

The Jaguars have played 15 games in London since 2013. Eleven of those games have been at Wembley Stadium and four at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In 2022, the Jaguars began a three-year contract with the NFL to oversee operations and have full responsibility for -- and get full revenue from -- an annual home game at Wembley, which seats 90,000. Team officials said before that game that they expected ticket revenues to be 40% higher than what the Jaguars would receive from an annual home game at EverBank Stadium that season.

In 2023 and 2024, the Jaguars played two games in London in back-to-back weeks, a home game at Wembley Stadium and a road game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Jaguars played only once in London in 2025, a home game against the Los Angeles Rams at Wembley.
