News: 5 days agoJohnson secured six of eight targets for 59 yards in the Saints' 45-24 loss to the Falcons on Monday night.
Spin: Johnson tied for second in receptions and also finished as the runner-up in receiving yards on the night for the Saints in the lopsided loss. The veteran tight end has gotten the season off to a productive start, recording at least 53 receiving yards in each contest and posting 14 of his 21 catches of the season in the last two games alone. Johnson also has drawn at least seven targets in three of the first four games, affording him a very appealing fantasy floor going into a Week 5 home matchup against the Vikings on Sunday.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Johnson's impressive progression continued in 2025, as the converted wide receiver posted career-high marks in targets, catches, yardage and fantasy points (all four were eighth or better among tight ends). Johnson produced nine top-12 fantasy weeks, which tied for second at the position. He has finished in the top 12 in aDOT each of the past four seasons but hasn't been much of an option near the goal line (no more than four TDs or end zone targets in each of the past three seasons). The 29-year-old has added target competition, including eighth-overall pick Jordyn Tyson (once healthy), but he very well could settle in as high as third in target priority in the Saints' Tyler Shough-led offense. Johnson is a fine TE2.
