The Minnesota Timberwolves are trading Josh Green and cash to the Utah Jazz for Cody Williams and John Konchar, sources told ESPN on Friday night.
The Timberwolves are expected to keep Williams, the No. 10 pick in 2024, and waive-and-stretch Konchar, sources said. Saturday is the final day to waive a player and stretch out his guaranteed salary over multiple seasons.
In order to sign newly acquired forward Jonathan Kuminga using the taxpayer midlevel exception, the Timberwolves discussed multiple trade scenarios for Green. They found a home for him on a Jazz team that wanted an additional 3-and-D wing.
Moving Green's $14.7 million deal gives Minnesota the salary space to complete signing Kuminga to a two-year, $12.4 million contract.
