News: 2 days agoSabonis (undisclosed) will not play in Tuesday's preseason matchup against Portland, Matt George of ABC 10 Sacramento reports.
Spin: Sabonis joins several Sacramento regulars on the sidelines Tuesday, though no reason for his absence was provided. With both Sabonis and Maxime Raynaud (knee) unavailable, the Kings will need to rely on other frontcourt options against the Trail Blazers. Sabonis' next opportunity to suit up will come Friday against San Antonio.
ESPN Fantasy Projection: Sabonis' season was cut short by a knee injury that limited him to only 19 games, by far the fewest in a campaign in his career. In his three previous full seasons with the Kings, Sabonis had averaged a rounded 19 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists in 77 games per year. The Kings have signaled a rebuild, letting veterans like DeMar DeRozan walk, and there are rumors that Sabonis could be on the move as well, but as long as he remains in Sacramento expect Sabonis to bounce back to his typical usage levels this season.
