CHICAGO -- DePaul coach Chris Holtmann has agreed to a contract extension that runs through the 2030-31 season.
Athletic director DeWayne Peevy announced the deal on Tuesday.
"This extension reflects both what Chris has already accomplished and our confidence in where he is taking this program," Peevy said in a release. "In two seasons, he has rebuilt the competitive foundation of DePaul men's basketball, restored belief in the program and elevated our visibility locally and nationally."
Holtmann was hired by DePaul in March 2024 after the Blue Demons went 3-29 overall and 0-20 in Big East play. He replaced Tony Stubblefield, who was fired after two-plus seasons.
DePaul went 14-20 overall and 4-16 in the Big East in Holtmann's first year in charge. The Blue Demons improved to 16-16 last season, including an 8-12 conference record.
"These first two years have been filled with both challenges and really exciting moments as we fight to rebuild this program," Holtmann said in the school's release. "We know continuing to move this forward won't be easy, but we embrace the challenges ahead. Our family has really enjoyed Chicago and we love our fans and the DePaul community, as well as the mission of DePaul."
Holtmann, who turns 55 in November, is 281-207 in 15 seasons, also coaching at Gardner-Webb, Butler and Ohio State.
