King, Wolford lift St. Francis (PA) past LIU Brooklyn, 85-68
LORETTO, Pa. -- Jamal King and Andre Wolford combined to score 43 points and fueled a fast start to the second half that carried St. Francis to a double-digit lead it never relinquished in beating LIU Brooklyn, 85-68 in a Northeast Conference contest Thursday night.
Wolford drilled a 3-pointer and converted a three-point play and King hit back-to-back jumpers to spark a 12-0 run that erased a two-point halftime deficit and gave the Red Flash a 10-point lead.
King finished with 23 points and Wolford added 20 while Keith Braxton pulled down 14 rebounds for St. Francis (8-6, 2-1).
The Blackbirds entered the game with two of the top five scorers in the conference in Joel Hernandez (19.7 points per game) and Raiquan Clark (18.7). But the St. Francis defense limited them to 12 and four points, respectively. LIU Brooklyn (6-10, 1-2) was led by Julian Batts' 14 points and got another dozen points from Jamall Robinson.
