McNeese hangs on for 86-81 win over Houston Baptist
HOUSTON -- Jarren Greenwood scored 21 points, Kalob Ledoux added 20 more and McNeese hung on Saturday night for an 86-81 win over Houston Baptist.
Tied at 76 with 4:42 to play, McNeese (7-10, 4-3 Southland Conference) pulled away on eight straight free throws over the next four minutes, with Greenwood and Quatarrius Wilson each hitting 4 for 4 from the line.
Braxton Bonds hit a jumper to cut the deficit back to six, Ledoux put in another pair of free throws at the other end with 13 seconds left and David Caraher hit a 3 for Houston Baptist (4-16, 0-7) to tighten the final margin. The Huskies, who have lost nine straight, missed two shots in the final five seconds.
Wilson finished with 11 points and a career-high 17 rebounds for his third straight double-double and James Harvey had 13 points for McNeese.
Caraher finished with 30 points and 12 rebounds for Houston Baptist, Jalon Gates had 26 points and Bonds scored 13.
