New Mexico tops CS Northridge 105-89 in Wooden Legacy
FULLERTON, Calif. -- Elijah Brown and Tim Williams scored 21 points apiece to lead New Mexico to a 105-89 win over Cal State Northridge at the Wooden Legacy on Friday.
New Mexico (4-1) scored a tournament-record 105 points. The Lobos will play the winner of the Dayton-Portland game in the fifth-place game, while Cal State Northridge (2-4) faces the loser in the seventh-place game. Both games are Sunday in Anaheim.
Brown made 7 of 11 shots and added seven assists. Williams was 7 of 12 from the floor and made all seven of his free-throw attempts.
Darin Johnson scored 22 points to lead the Matadors. Aaron Parks added 20 points.
The Matadors pulled to 75-73 on a shot inside by Rakim Lubin, but New Mexico pulled away in the final six minutes. Sam Logwood had two impressive dunks in the final minutes for the Lobos.
