Horton's 37 and 21 propels Austin Peay over Tennessee Tech
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Chris Horton matched a career high with 37 points and added a career-best 21 rebounds to lead No. 8 seed Austin Peay to a 92-72 win over No. 5 seed Tennessee Tech in the first round of the Ohio Valley Conference tournament on Wednesday night.
Austin Peay's 92 points are the most scored for the Governors in an OVC tournament game since 2000.
Chris Porter-Bunton added 12 points and Josh Robinson had 11 for Austin Peay (15-17).
Torrance Rowe scored 18 points and dished out six assists to lead Tennessee Tech (19-11). Ryan Martin added 17 points and seven rebounds.
Austin Peay led 47-35 at halftime and opened up a 20-point lead (61-41) after a Tre Ivory 3-point play with 15:28 to go. A Jared Savage 3 made it 70-44 with 12:43 left and Austin Peay cruised the rest of the night.
The Governors play No. 4 Tennessee State on Thursday.
