Western Illinois tops Hannibal-LaGrange 94-57
MACOMB, Ill. -- Garret Covington scored 14 points, and five Fighting Leathernecks scored in double figures in a dominant 94-57 win over NAIA Hannibal-LaGrange on Sunday night.
Jabari Sandifer and J.C. Fuller scored 13, De'Angelo Bruster 11 and Jalen Morgan 10 for Western Illinois (2-0), which shocked No. 17 Wisconsin on Friday, 69-67.
The Leathernecks shot 68 percent in the first half -- including 7 of 10 from beyond the arc -- to build a 16-point lead at the break. They finished with 13 3s on 25 attempts.
Covington and Bruster both made three 3-pointers.
Hannibal-LaGrange (1-3) had a good first half shooting as well, making 11 of 24 field goals, but they connected on just 8 of 31 attempts in the second. Tim Pace led the Trojans with 13 points and five rebounds. Demetrius Early had 11.
