Princeton holds off Norfolk State 83-74
NORFOLK, Va. -- Henry Caruso scored 16 points and Princeton beat Norfolk State 83-74 Tuesday night in its final non-conference game of the season.
Devin Cannady scored 13 points and Myles Stephens added 11 for the Tigers (9-4), who open Ivy League play at Penn on Saturday.
Spencer Weisz scored 10 points and Pete Miller grabbed eight rebounds. Princeton shot 55 percent, 10 of 22 on 3-pointers and made 17 of 22 free throws.
Up by 11 at halftime, Princeton's Aaron Young, Alec Brennan and Cannady each hit 3-pointers and the Tigers led 59-42 with 11:14 to play. Princeton pulled ahead by 22 points after a 10-1 run with 5:03 left. Devonte Banner scored two 3s amid a 15-2 run to pull within 79-70 with 49 seconds left, but got no closer.
Charles Oliver scored 21 points, D'Shon Taylor added 18 and Jeff Short 11 for the Spartans (5-11), who open Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play against Florida A&M on Saturday.
