Green Bay dominates N. Kentucky 86-70 in conference opener
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Charles Cooper had 19 points and Carrington Love added 18 as Green Bay rolled over Northern Kentucky 86-70 on Saturday in the first meeting between the schools.
Cooper made 9 of 14 field goals, and Love, who was 7 of 17 from the floor, had seven assists and three steals. Khalil Small added 14 points for Green Bay (8-5, 1-0) in the Horizon League opener.
Trailing 25-20 midway in the first half, Tevin Findlay made a layup and nailed a 3-pointer as Green Bay closed the first half on a 23-8 run and led 43-33 at halftime. Love hit a jumper and Small scored the next five points to open the second half and the Phoenix stretched their lead to 69-48 at the 9:58 mark.
Green Bay forced Northern Kentucky into 18 turnovers.
Jalen Billups had 18 points and Lavone Holland II added 17 for Northern Kentucky (4-8, 0-1).
