New Mexico State rolls over Houston Baptist 91-69
LAS CRUCES, N.M. -- Pascal Siakam scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as New Mexico State rolled over Houston Baptist 91-69 in a season opener on Friday night.
Siakam was 9 of 14 from the field and 8 of 9 from the free-throw line for the Aggies. Eli Chuha scored 13 points with five rebounds and Rashawn Brown added 10 points and four rebounds. The Aggies were 57.6 percent from the field overall and 85 percent from the line. They outrebounded the Huskies 44-26.
The Aggies took an early lead in the first half and had a 51-33 advantage at the break.
Matt Taylor sank a 3-pointer early in the second half to make it a runaway at 55-35 and a pair of dunks by Siakam made it 79-49 with 5:58 to play.
Anthony Odunsi scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds for the Huskies.
