Charlotte cruises to 86-73 win over Marshall
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Pierria Henry scored 19 points and Terrence Williams added 14 to lead Charlotte to an 86-73 win over Marshall on Saturday night.
Keyshawn Woods contributed 13 points, Bernard Sullivan had 12 and Mike Thorne Jr. 10 for Charlotte (14-17, 7-11 Conference USA), which hit 26 of 34 from the free throw line, a 2-to-1 advantage over Marshall.
The 49ers trailed 21-10 early in the first half but erased the deficit with an 11-0 run and took the lead for good with a pair of free throws from Williams that made it 33-31 at 1:45 before the break.
Marshall trimmed a nine-point deficit to 41-38 with DeVince Boykins' 3-pointer early in the second but Charlotte halted the run with Henry's layup at 16:48 and pulled away down the stretch.
Austin Loop led Marshall (11-20, 7-11) with 19 points, Ryan Taylor added 13 to go with 10 rebounds and Aleksa Nikolic had 11 points.
