Kuakumensah caps 17-point comeback; Brown tops Cornell 57-56
PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Cedric Kuakumensah launched a jump shot that rattled around the rim before falling through with 2 seconds remaining to cap Brown's 17-point comeback in a 57-56 defeat of Cornell on Saturday night.
Brown (12-15 3-7 Ivy League) trailed the Big Red 40-23 after missing its first five shots and committing three turnovers to open the second half.
Cornell (12-14, 4-6) started with a 6-0 run after halftime. But over the final 17:22, the Bears outscored Cornell 34-16. Tavon Blackmon scored 11 of his 17 points after halftime. Steven Spieth, who started the comeback with a three-point play, scored all 11 of his points during the rally.
JR Hobbie added 12 points and Kuakumensah blocked five shots and scored 11 points.
Shonn Miller led Cornell with 27 points and eight rebounds and Galal Cancer scored 13 points. The rest of the team chipped in 16 points.
