FGCU takes down Marist 58-43
ESTERO, Fla. -- Julian DeBose scored 15 points to lead Florida Gulf Coast to a 58-43 win on Monday in the opening round of the Gulf Coast Showcase.
Brett Comer, Bernard Thompson and Marc-Eddy Norelia had 11 points apiece for FGCU (4-0). The Eagles outscored Marist 37-22 in the second half.
Manny Thomas, Phillip Lawrence and Nick Colletta had nine points each for Marist (0-3).
Comer hit a 3-pointer with 56 seconds left in the first half to tie the game at 21.
DeBose scored the first six points of the second half, during a 13-0 run, as FGCU pulled ahead 34-21. Eric Truog ended Marist's scoring drought with a basket with 14:18 left. FGCU responded with a 7-0 run, capped by a Demetris Morant dunk, for a 41-23 lead.
