Sherman-Newsome leads Colgate over Lafayette 95-83
EASTON, Pa. -- Damon Sherman-Newsome scored 28 points and Luke Roh added 21 to lead Colgate to a 95-83 over Lafayette on Wednesday.
Ethan Jacobs added 15 points and Austin Tillotson had a perfect shooting night for 14 points as the second-place Raiders (14-16, 11-6 Patriot League) remained one game behind Bucknell. Tillotson made all three of his field goals, including two 3-pointers, and six free throws.
Nick Linder had a career-high 30 points, 24 in the second half, and Dan Trist 19 for Lafayette (16-12, 8-9). Linder's 30-point game was the first for a Leopard since Trist had 30 on Nov. 12, 2012.
Colgate shot 60 percent (15 for 25) and made 5 of 10 3-pointers to take a 39-32 lead at the half. In the second half the Raiders were even hotter behind Sherman-Newsome's 23 points, making 18 of 25 (72 percent) and 17 of 20 free throws to finish 21 of 24 from the line.
