Trist scores 23, Lafayette beats Navy 74-65
ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Dan Trist scored 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Lafayette made 8 of 8 free throws in the final 46 seconds to beat Navy 74-65 on Saturday night.
Nick Lindner had 15 points and five assists, Seth Hinrichs scored 12 and Bryce Scott added 10 points and eight boards for Lafayette (13-8, 5-5 Patriot League), which made 28 of 52 field-goal attempts (53.8 percent) and 10 of 10 free throws.
Tilman Dunbar's jumper with 46 seconds left pulled Navy (8-14, 4-6) within 68-65, but the Midshipmen missed their final three shots and Lafayette sealed it as Lindner and Scott each made three free throws and Joey Ptasinski added two more.
Worth Smith led Navy, which made just 1 of 4 free throws and was outrebounded 30-21, with 20 points. Brandon Venturini scored 12.
Navy had a season-high 25 assists on 28 field goals and shot 52 percent.
