Hearst, Drame lift Quinnipiac over Monmouth (NJ) 68-64
WEST LONG BEACH, N.J. -- Zaid Hearst scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Qusmane Drame had 17 and 10 and Quinnipiac won its first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game 68-64 over Monmouth on Friday.
The Bobcats (7-7, 1-4) defeated the Hawks (7-8, 4-1) for the ninth straight time.
Hearst hit 11 of 17 shots, including five 3-pointers, but missed his only two free throws with 18 seconds left. That gave Monmouth a chance to tie with a 3 and the Hawks got an offensive rebound after a miss and Max DiLeo was fouled behind the arc with six seconds remaining. He missed the first, made the second to make it 66-64 and then was called for a lane violation. Drame made two free throws at five seconds to ice the game.
Evan Conti and Hearst hit 3s to put Quinnipiac up 64-60 with 43 seconds to go.
Justin Robinson led Monmouth with 15 points.
