Canisius holds off Quinnipiac 63-57
BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Kassius Robertson scored 16 points, 11 in the second half, and Zach Lewis added 12 more as Canisius posted a 63-57 win over Quinnipiac Friday night.
Canisius took control midway through the first half, going on a 9-2 run coming out of a time out for a 22-13 lead with 9:00 left.
The Golden Griffins (12-8, 7-4 Metro Atlantic) nursed the lead the rest of the way, taking an eight point lead at intermission, but never surrendered it. Ousmane Drame pulled the Bobcats within 3, 39-36 midway through the second half, but got no closer.
Neither team had the hot hand from the field. Canisius was just 24 of 67 (35.8 percent), including 3 of 19 from long range. Quinnipiac was 21 of 63 (33.3 percent) and 2 of 15 from beyond the arc.
Drame finished with 20 points and Zaid Hearst added 19 more for Quinnipiac (11-9, 5-6).
