Brooks leads Davidson past The Citadel 83-76
CHARLESTON, S.C. -- De'Mon Brooks hit 17 of 20 free throws to score 21 points, leading Davidson to an 83-76 win over The Citadel on Monday.
The Wildcats (16-11, 12-1 Southern Conference) hit 26 of 36 free throws to win their ninth straight game. They did not make a basket in the last five minutes of the game but went 15 of 20 from the line. They also had double-figure 3-pointers for the fourth-straight game, going 11 for 21.
Tom Droney and Brian Sullivan combined for seven 3s and 30 points and Tyler Kalinoski had 13 points.
Ashton Moore had a career-high 35 points for the Bulldogs (4-24, 0-3), who lost their 16th straight.
Brooks made two free throws with 4:20 to play, putting the Wildcats up 70-53. Moore shot the Bulldogs back into it but in the final minute Davidson went 7 of 8 from the line.
