San Francisco wins 19th, tops Pepperdine 77-53
MALIBU, Calif. -- Cole Dickerson scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help San Francisco knock off Pepperdine Thursday, 77-53, earning the Dons a 12th conference win for the first time since the 1978-79 season.
The win, a season-high fourth straight, moved San Francisco (19-10, 12-5 WCC) into a second-place tie with Brigham Young with one game remaining in the regular season. It's the second time San Francisco has won 19 games under Rex Walters, and win Saturday at Loyola Marymount would mark the second time one of his teams have reached 20 wins.
Avry Holmes drilled a 3-pointer to give San Francisco the lead, 39-38 with 16:44 left in the game, igniting an 18-2 run that put the Dons up by 14 with nine minutes left.
Stacy Davis scored 15 points and grabbed eight boards to lead Pepperdine (15-14, 8-9), with Malcolm Brooks adding 11 points and Lamond Murray Jr. 10.
